Each Soil & Water Conservation District in Virginia is governed by a Board of Directors.  The John Marshall Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Directors has five seats: three elected by the public and two appointed by the State Soil & Water Conservation Board (one at-large and one local Virginia Cooperative Extension agent).  Elections are held every four years and coincide with the Commonwealth's General Election.  The next election of Directors will occur in 2023.  Unlike most elected officials, District directors serve without pay. Associate directors may be appointed by the Board of Directors and do not have voting rights.

Board Meetings

The John Marshall Soil & Water Conservation District Board meets on a monthly basis to deal with conservation issues within Fauquier County.  The public, as well as cooperating agencies, are invited to attend District meetings and provide input. A meeting notice is sent to the local newspapers and posted at the County Administrator’s office and the main office of the Library.  Unless otherwise noted, meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 2:00 pm in the JMSWCD Conference Room, 98 Alexandria Pike, Suite 33, Warrenton, Virginia 20186.
