The Professional Standards Division is responsible for Accreditation, Training, Property and Evidence, Records, Virginia Freedom of Information (FOIA) requests, and publishing the Daily Activity Report.

The Records staff provide a variety of services to department staff, government agencies and to the general public.  They are responsible for the checks and balances to ensure that accurate data is provided to the Virginia State Police Online Crime Information site and DMV TREDS.

*Effective July 1, 2026, Crash Reports will no longer be provided by the Sheriff's Office.  All requests should be made to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).  Obtaining a crash report from DMV directly ensures that you receive the complete and final copy.  We encourage you to immediately begin requesting these reports from the DMV.

*Please note that crash reports will only be released by the DMV as per Va. Code Section 46.2-380.
