The Professional Standards Division is comprised of Records, FOIA (Freedom of Information Act), Training, and Accreditation.


Records maintains all records for the Sheriff’s Office and is responsible for the review of all incident and accident reports, entry of traffic summons, pawn tickets and FOIA requests.

Be prepared to show proof of identification for all services provided.

Only government issued identification will be accepted.

The following services are available.

  • Crash Reports and/or photos*:   VA State Accident Form

    $10.00 fee effective May 12, 2017, mail fee with the form, or bring to the Records office.

    Only exact change or check can be accepted.   (do not send cash through the mail.  You can obtain a copy of the report by going online to DMV's website)

    • Only those involved in the crash, registered owners of the vehicle(s) or owner(s) of damaged property involved are entitled to pick up a copy of the report.  The report may also be released to insurance agents or attorneys representing the driver or property owner.

    • You can also obtain a copy of the report for no fee.  Visit our Online Reporting information site.

*Please note: photographs are not taken at every accident scene.
