PUBLIC AUCTION OF DERELICT AIRPLANE
Update:
Due to frigid temperatures expected Friday, the auction will be held inside the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport Terminal @ 1533 Iris Trail, Midland, VA 22728 rather than on the airfield adjacent to the plane.
The aircraft is still available for viewing prior to the auction.
The deadline for the current registered owner to redeem the plane has expired, so the plane cannot be redeemed and the auction will proceed as scheduled.

For more information, visit: Warrenton-Fauquier Airport Airplane Sale. The derelict airplane is offered for sale by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors pursuant to VA Code § 5.1-2.25, et seq. so it can be removed from the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport and the Board can recover its fees and costs of removal, delinquent tie-down rent, and delinquent airport maintenance fees.

High bidder must pay the purchase price in cash or by cashier’s check made payable to “Fauquier County.” Personal checks, ACH transfers, wire transfers, and credit cards will not be accepted. This is strictly an in-person auction. Attendance virtually is not permitted.
A minimum deposit of ten percent (10%) of the purchase price must be tendered by the high bidder immediately at the close of the auction. No time will be allotted for high bidder to leave the auction to obtain additional funds for the deposit. Bidders who wish to pay with cashier’s check but are concerned that they will not have a sufficient deposit if the bidding exceeds their expectations are encouraged to plan ahead; bring a cashier’s check for twenty percent (20%) of the maximum you are willing to bid on the aircraft to ensure that you have an adequate minimum deposit. The lack of an adequate minimum deposit tendered by the high bidder immediately at the conclusion of the auction will result in an immediate declaration of no sale and the aircraft will be sold to the next highest bidder.
The entirety of the sale proceeds is due from the high bidder to undersigned counsel at 10 Courthouse Square, First Floor, Warrenton, Virginia 20186 by no later than 12:00 p.m., Eastern time, on Friday, February 6, 2026. The executed bill of sale for the aircraft will not be delivered by Fauquier County to the high bidder until the entirety of the sale proceeds are delivered by the high bidder. Failure to remit the entirety of the sale proceeds by 12:00 p.m., Eastern time, on Friday, February 6, 2026 shall result in a forfeiture by the high bidder of their deposit, forfeiture of their cash bond to guarantee removal of the aircraft, and a declaration of no sale of the aircraft, at which time the aircraft will be sold to the next highest bidder.
Airplane is offered for sale as-is, where-is with all faults and without any warranties, expressed or implied, and will be conveyed by an aircraft bill of sale similar to FAA AC Form 8050-2, OMB Control No. 2120-0042. Seller makes no representations or guarantees regarding the airplane’s condition. The purchaser takes the airplane free of the rights of the persons holding any equitable or legal interest in the airplane, whether or not recorded.

Purchaser must remove the airplane from the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport by no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026. To guarantee such timely removal, purchaser will be required to post a $2,000.00 cash bond with Fauquier County which shall be refunded to purchaser upon airplane’s timely removal. Failure to remove the airplane timely shall result in purchaser’s forfeiture of the bond and the commencement of legal proceedings to remove the airplane. The airplane is available for inspection at bidders’ risk and expense; said inspection costs are nonrefundable. Purchaser bears all costs of title searches and costs associated with transfer of ownership, including all transfer taxes. Purchaser is solely responsible for notifying the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration office of change in the registered owner of the airplane.
